Preparation.

Our little man is due to arrive any day now.... and the sooner, the better! At 39 weeks, I am definitely at the point where I'm ready for him to make his debut!

It's strange, with Harlee, I pretty much knew exactly how many newborn vs. 0-3 month onesies she had, and the bottles, books, pacifiers that never got touched, extra blankets were all accounted for and organized. The hospital bag was packed for weeks, the gender specific carseat was strapped in the car after learning how to properly strap one into place.

For our new little boy, whom we've named Declan Patrick, the pink infant carseat we used for three months from his older sister is in the trunk of the SUV, there's a hospital bag list floating around somewhere, the "birth preferences" are a quick list in my head I'll probably jot down on the way to the hospital, and while everything is organized, I'm crossing my fingers I have enough hand-me-down onesies to get him through the newborn stage!

Do I feel like I'm less prepared, or don't care? I think maybe the opposite - I'm prepared for the overwhelming love I'm going to feel when I hold him for the first time, for the sweet scent of him as we snuggle for a feeding session, my gratitude towards my husband for his love and support during childbirth and his role as #1 dad. Maybe the clothes are less important, but the little human we're adding to our family couldn't be more cherished.
