Creating 'home' in the camper using essential oils

I like to create 'home' wherever we go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Camping, travel, hotel rooms, my husbands work travel, my car... it HAS to be comfortable (and comforting).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’ve been doing quite a bit of camping lately with our pop up camper, and I have list after list in Google docs of the things to not forget next time, and a list of what to include in our camper bins as basics.

Here are my husband and I on a trip back in January to a spot in Fort Pierce:

What is so important to me, though, is making the camper feel like a cozy space that reflects the needs and personality of our family, making sure we have the health and self care items that make each day amazing. Or, as a friend on Instagram said, that it’s kinda like I’m glamping and not actually camping. I’m ok with that!!

Here's how I make a pop up camper feel like less of a tent and more like home:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. COZY BEDS. Buy the good memory foam or foam cover for the beds in your camper! We get some of the best sleep in here thanks to how we make the beds. And don't forget your pillows! Yes, all of them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. PLAN YOUR FOOD. Make a list based on the cooking tools and grills you'll have. Keep it super simple. Have lots of fruit and healthy snacks for the kids, because they'll forget to eat bc they're having so much fun! I thrifted a cute basket and put granola bars, clementines, bananas, and a few small bags of chips in it for the kids to grab easily.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. BRING THE DIFFUSER. Yes, bring it. Maybe even two if your camper is larger. That musty camper scent from sitting in your side yard for a few weeks, empty, isn't doing you any good. I love diffusing citrus bliss and peppermint, or rosemary, lemon, lavender during the day, and breathe and serenity at night. Aromatherapy is a must for that cozy camper vibe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. BRING THE NORMAL SELF CARE PRODUCTS + SUPPLEMENTS.
Make every day your best day. Bring the coffee creamer you love. Take your supplements while you're camping. Wash your face with the good stuff (my rec: dōTERRA's Verage line and some yarrow | pom). I tend to avoid washing my hair camping, so don't forget the dry shampoo and fill up some mini bottles for the kids! Since our camper doesn’t have a bathroom, I bring basically a beach bag to tote towels and shower products from the camper to the campsite showers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. GO WITH PEOPLE YOU WANT TO BE AROUND. It should be a given, but my people are the reason I endure all the work that goes into camping 💁🏼‍♀️

A few essential oil essentials:

You want to bring an itch/scratch spray or roller. For a roller, purchase empty 10 ml roller bottles and fill it with 5-10 drops each of lavender, tea tree, and frankincense, and top with fractionated coconut oil, or try it in a spray like in the image below! Apply it after a day with too many mosquitoes, sea lice, sun, or run in with a branch!

Bring a bottle or two of TerraShield, the outdoor blend. This gets applied the second we walk outside our camper, on exposed parts of the legs and arms. You can make your own, or purchase the TerraShield 30 ml spray bottle (I like to do that and then refill it with a DIY version).

This diffuser and oil combo is great for setting on the picnic table - the Roam diffuser is portable once it’s charged and will last about 2-3 hours unplugged! It’s also great for your back porch.

I have a whole PDF of essential oils for camping, which you can grab here:

I’ve also created a custom camping kit of essential oils just for you, right here: https://doterra.me/C7769jNe

Each of you have a unique system at home, and a way you love to take care of your health + self care. My top advice… bring what you love and what makes you feel like home, and make sure you have enough essential oils in your toolkit to soothe the bumps along the way!
